Certification training CAPM®
Organisations throughout the world are increasingly accepting the certification Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) as a means of training competent project managers. They have come to appreciate the formal certification of their project managers and important members of project teams. This is because preparation for certification motivates people not only to study tried and tested practices in project management, but it also motivates them to look at questions of processes and methodologies, and leads them to make an active contribution to their improvement. The result is an increase in the success of projects which they participate in. Taking the test and gaining the title CAPM® is undoubtedly the first step in a career and becoming an experienced project manager. The preparation for the test itself gives you much information and findings about the tried and tested practices in project management. The test is highly appropriate for the managers of smaller projects and for members of teams of extensive projects. The conditions which the candidates interested in certification must comply with are also adapted to this.
Registration for training: Please contact us on email: Igor.Luhan@o2bs.com
Requirements
The certification test is a product of the Project Management Institute (PMI), a global professional organisation of project managers. Passing this test means the worker is well acquainted with the standard Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), which is the intellectual property of the PMI.
The first criterion is education – the candidate must have secondary school education. He must prove at least three years of experience in the area of project management. One requirement is either the proving of actual activity during project management lasting 1500 hours (this requirement applies mainly to the managers of smaller projects) or passing of accredited course in the scope of at least 23 hours (this is for members of large project teams). Another requirement is agreement with the code of conduct of a project manager (expressed by means of signature) and taking of test.
Before signing up for the test and thus also before enrolment for the certification course, in addition to the meeting of the required qualification requirements the candidate should have basic knowledge and experience in the field of project management, preferably in compliance with the methodology PMBOK®. The candidate should be capable of communicating in English at least to the extent that he is able to read expert texts (primarily PMBOK®), to understand questions and correctly understand the significance of the answers offered.
Preparation for test
The test is performed on a computer in an independent centre, it is conducted in electronic form. It consists of 150 questions with multiple choice answers. In this test there is a relatively small percentage of so-called situational questions, i.e., questions which look at habits when managing projects - rather than this the test primarily verifies knowledge of methodology. There is a time limit of 3 hours for the taking of the test, i.e., an average of 1.2 minutes per question, which is evidence of an assumption that the candidate is sufficiently well grounded in theory. The questions and answers are in English, but it is possible to take the test in Prague. The fee for the test is 230 euros for members of PMI, and 315 euros for non-members. If the test is failed, the fee is not refunded.
Preparation on the course focuses on the following areas:
- definition of document of project,
- activity decomposition graph (WBS) and Gantt diagram,
- network graph of activities,
- making of time and price estimates,
- quality planning in project,
- creation of communication plans and knowing why it is important
- project management plans, what they consist of,
- stages in process of project planning,
- different roles and activities of project manager,
- what should be measured in a project, when and why
- why the correct closure of a project is important,
- acquaintance with other themes which are not wholly covered in PMBOK®, but are the subject of the test (for example, methods for risk management),
- learning methodologies which are not universally used in this country, but should be (for example, measuring of progress using added value),
- presentation of methodologies where the certification is based on customs used elsewhere (this involves the area of logistics)
- tricks which help in the selection of the correct variants (experience leading to selection of more appropriate questions, linguistic selection of answers etc.).
From the specified overview it is evident that a candidate expands and deepens his knowledge in the area of project management. This course can thus be understood as preparation on a more general level and as an introduction to the standard methodology for project management according to PMBOK® which can be followed up in the future with certification training for the test PMP or other courses which we prepare.
Accreditation for the course is performed in the context of the programme Registered Education Provider of the company PMI as a guarantee of expert quality and in compliance with a tried and tested methodology. The course is conducted in Czech and those taking it receive materials in Czech but primarily in English.
Training is provided in two forms. It is possible to take a course held at pre-designated times at the head office of our firm in Prague lasting 3 days (24 hours). You can find a current list, including possibilities for enrolling using an electronic form, here. The second form, which we offer, is the holding of certification training specially for your firm and for your workers. Contact us if you are interested in this form so we can arrange a date, locality and price conditions or if you want any further information.
Price of preparatory course
The price is CZK 35,000 per person, including VAT. The price does not include costs for the actual taking of the test or any fee for membership in PMI. We provide bonuses for several participants from one firm.

Certification training PMP®
Many employers already appreciate the significance of the formal certification of their leading project managers both as evidence of their quality and as a marketing argument demonstrating the quality of leading personnel. This certification is required in particular from leading workers by large international firms. This is because preparation for certification motivates employees to study questions of processes and methodologies which they use and which lead to an active contribution to their improvement. The result is an increase in the success of projects which they manage.

To an increasing extent organisations accept the gaining of the title Project Management Professional (PMP®) as a formal requirement for career progress. The individual project managers also appreciate the possibility of confronting their knowledge and experience with the global standard. The passing of the test and gaining of the title PMP® is undoubtedly a significant factor which allows them access to the management of interesting and responsible projects under corresponding conditions. Gaining the title PMP® helps leading project managers go beyond the mediocre and really move their career forward. The very preparation for the test helps improve experience, and the advantage will be a broader knowledge of tools and procedures. The title PMP® identifies them amongst their colleagues as someone who really shines in project management. The certification is understood in this way throughout the entire world, and more than 100,000 project managers have already passed the test.
The certification test is a product of the Project Management Institute (PMI), a global professional organisation of project managers. The passing of this test is acknowledged as proof of the highest quality preparation and experience even by “competing” organisations of project managers, for example the British IPMA (one member of which is the Czech Project Management Society (Společnost pro projektové řízení - SPŘ).
Requirements
Candidates interested in the certification PMP® must comply with several criteria, which can be divided into two categories. The first category consists of candidates who have at least a bachelor's degree. They must prove active experience with project management in a scope of at least 4500 hours and at least three years over the past eight years. The second category consists of candidates with secondary-school education, who must prove experience in project management of 7500 hours and at least five years in the course of the last eight years before the submission of the application. Another requirement is agreement with the code of conduct of a project manager (expressed by means of signature) and taking of test.
Before signing up for the test and before enrolment for the certification course, in addition to the meeting of the required qualification requirements, the candidate should have knowledge in the field of project management, preferably at the level of information contained in PMBOK®. A candidate should also have knowledge of the following terms and activities:
- definition of document of project,
- activity decomposition graph (WBS) and Gantt diagram,
- network graph of activities,
- making of time and price estimates,
- quality planning in project,
- creation of communication plans and knowing why it is important
- project management plans, what they consist of,
- stages in process of project planning,
- different roles and activities of project manager,
- what should be measured in a project, when and why
- why the correct closure of a project is important.
Last but not least, the candidate should be capable of communicating in English at least to the extent that he is able to read expert texts (primarily PMBOK®), to understand questions and correctly understand the significance of the answers offered.
Preparation for test
The test is performed in electronic form on a computer and is held in an independent centre. It consists of 200 questions with multiple choice answers. A high percentage of questions are so-called situational ones, i.e., ones which verify not only knowledge of theory but also its correct application and good practices in project management. There is a time limit of 4 hours for the taking of the test, i.e., an average of 1.2 minutes per question, which is evidence of an assumption that the candidate is sufficiently well grounded in theory and practice. The questions and answers are in English, but it is possible to take the test in Prague. The fee for the testis USD 555 for non-members of PMI, and for members it is reduced to USD 405. If the test is failed, the fee is not refunded.
Preparation on the course focuses on the following areas:
- recap of fundamentals of project management according to PMBOK®,
- acquaintance with other themes which are not wholly covered in PMBOK®, but are the subject of the test (for example, methods for risk management),
- learning methodologies which are not universally used in this country, but should be (for example, measuring of progress using added value),
- presentation of methodologies where the certification is based on customs used elsewhere (this involves the area of logistics)
- tricks which help in the selection of the correct variant (linguistic etc.).
From the overview given it is obvious that even if a candidate expands and deepens his knowledge in many areas of project management, the course primarily focuses on successful taking of the test. For preparation at a more general level and as an introduction to the standard methodology of project management according to PMBOK® we recommend our certification training for the CAPM test or other courses which we prepare.
Accreditation for the course is performed in the context of the programme Registered Education Provider of the company PMI as a guarantee of expert quality and in compliance with a tried and tested methodology.
