Perimeter Security
The military sounding name of perimeter security primarily covers the protection of the network and information system in places where it is in contact with its surroundings – the networks of other users, service providers or the internet. The protection of the perimeter creates a security wall, a fortification behind which the entire computer network is securely concealed with all its services and saved information. The quality securing of the perimeter corresponds both to the fact that only those who have authorisation to enter the network do so, and they only do it in the manner for which they are authorised, and it thus ensures that outside the network only information and services will be made public which can be made public and only according to pre-designated security rules.
Perimeter security is generally implemented as a first line of defence via firewalls, security gateways which supervise operation at the network interface and check whether it corresponds to the designated rules.
As a systems integrator Telefónica O2 Business Solutions brings to the security solution a comprehensive overview which covers this area not only from the technological aspect but also in connection with other processes, applications and IS/IT services.
