Server Infrastructures

The basis for each ICT system is the server, the computer which provides the services. The activity of the higher elements and subsequently the entire information and communication system is based on the quality and properties of the servers. Not only must the server itself be of sufficiently high performance to handle the requirements of the service or services which it provides, but it must be equipped with sufficiently high-performance resources which it needs for its activities. In order for it to be able to utilise the services which the servers provide, it is essential to ensure high-quality and sufficiently permeable connection with users of their services, be they workers of the organisation or other servers which implement, for example, services of higher levels. For this reason a fundamental part of the information and communication system is not the server itself, but the entire server infrastructure, the properties of which overall influence the operability, effectiveness and quality of ICT of the entire organisation.

In addition to the aforementioned reliable and high-performance servers located in secured premises with sufficient connectivity, the network and communication infrastructure, equipment for data storage, elements of network security or client layers in particular constitute the main parts of the service applying to the ICT infrastructure. All of this together constitutes a mutually linked whole the task of which is to create the optimal operational environment for user applications, to ensure their protection and accessibility and allow the gradual increase in the abilities of the information system.
